Kris Morgan, Licensed Professional Counselor & Visual Artist
Approach
My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, a gentle and empowering model that helps you develop a compassionate relationship with your inner world. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or emotions, we learn to listen to them, understand their purpose, and create space for healing.
At the heart of this work is the belief that each person possesses an innate capacity for wisdom, healing, and growth. As you reconnect with this deeper center of yourself, it becomes easier to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
I also incorporate creative practices such as art journaling when appropriate. Creative expression can offer another pathway to self-discovery, helping us access insights that may be difficult to reach through words alone.
Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, healing from past experiences, navigating a life transition, or longing for a deeper sense of meaning and authenticity, IFS therapy can become a space for transformation—a place to reconnect with who you truly are and move forward with greater wholeness and purpose.
Education
Master of Science degree, Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Winona State University)
Master of Arts degree, Human Development with specialization in Spirituality (Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota).
Theoretical Orientation
While I am primarily an IFS therapist, I also draw on tools from other modalities including person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, somatic therapy, and arts-informed therapy. My background in studio arts and spirituality also gives me unique insight into working with those who identify as creative, visual-thinking, and spiritually-oriented.
Personal
I’m kind-hearted, intuitive, and a bit quirky. In my free time, I enjoy yoga and expressive arts, like painting and writing. Relationships and meaningful conversation are central to my life, and my adult-aged child is the light of my life.
As a survivor of sexual trauma, I’ve spent many years on my own healing journey. This process deepens my empathy and informs my commitment to creating a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their own paths to healing.
